North Dakota Pedestrian Accidents
On average, North Dakota sees approximately 14,000 auto collisions take place per year. Of those accidents, thousands sustain injuries and hundreds lose their lives annually. North Dakota auto accidents can take place for a number of different reasons, but currently, the leading cause is distracted or negligent driving, which accounts for a large percentage of North Dakota auto accidents and auto accidents across the United States.
In 2018, approximately once every five days a bicyclist was involved in a crash. Once every three days that same year, a pedestrian was involved in a crash. Pedestrians are unfortunately at a disadvantage when crossing streets, intersections, standing on corners, etc. due to the fact that drivers can not always see them. A safety tip when traveling as a pedestrian on a bike or otherwise is to make eye contact with drivers before crossing the roadway, that way you know they are aware of your presence.
