A majority of the drivers and passengers in North Dakota realize how crucial it is to always wear their seat belt. A 2018 study of observed seat belt usage across the state revealed that slightly more than eight out of every 10 vehicle occupants (82.5%) regularly wore their seat belt. Those who chose to forego the usage of this standard safety feature put themselves and others in the same vehicle at a greatly increased chance of injury or death if they become involved in a car accident in North Dakota.
