Norwalk, CA (July 18, 2023) – Three people died in a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 Freeway near Florence Avenue in Norwalk on Sunday, July 16, 2023.
Luis Marroquin, 41, of Pomona, Joel Araujo, 40, and Arilene Rivero, 32, of Pico Rivera, died at the scene.
California Highway Patrol dispatch reported DUI arrests.
Clarence Hill, 23, crashed his 2017 Honda into a sound wall while drunk.
Hector Rivero of Pico Rivera’s 2011 Kia hit Hadley’s tow truck behind the disabled vehicle, killing Arilene Rivero.
Luis Marroquin, 22, of Pomona, drove a 2016 Toyota that hit the tow truck, killing both passengers, 41-year-old Marroquin and 40-year-old Araujo.
Hector Rivero and Luis Marroquin Jr. were taken to Saint Francis Medical Center with serious injuries.
Felony DUI arrests followed at the hospital.
Honda driver Clarence Hill faced misdemeanor DUI charges.
Investigations is ongoing.
