Oakland, CA – Pedestrian Fatality on HWY 13 Near Lincoln Ave

Oakland, CA (November 21, 2023) – Late Sunday night, a tragic incident on Highway 13 claimed the life of 18-year-old Arif Mohammed from New York City. The accident occurred just before 11 p.m. on Sunday, November 19, south of Lincoln Ave. Initially, a Zipcar and a black sedan collided on southbound Highway 13. The Zipcar halted in the slow lane, and the sedan’s driver fled. Shortly after, Mohammed and another man exited the Zipcar and stood near it.

Suddenly, another black sedan approached, swerved to avoid the stopped Zipcar, and fatally struck Mohammed on the right shoulder.

The second sedan’s driver also fled the scene. The Zipcar driver was unharmed. Authorities are actively investigating the deadly hit-and-run.
