Oceanside, CA (July 6, 2023) – A 12-year-old boy was tragically killed in a T-bone crash in Oceanside late Tuesday night, July 4, 2023.
Around 11:00 p.m., a collision occurred at North Myers Street and Surfrider Way.
A speeding white Volkswagen traveling northbound on Myers Street collided with a dark-colored Nissan
Altima traveling eastbound on Surfrider Way, according to Oceanside Police.
Officials confirmed that the young boy, a passenger in the Altima, died at the scene of his injuries.
The driver, another Altima passenger, and two Volkswagen occupants were not seriously injured.
All four people were taken to a nearby hospital by emergency personnel.
The driver of the Volkswagen was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and gross vehicular manslaughter.
Although investigations are ongoing, it is believed that speed and alcohol played a role in the accident.
