Odessa, TX ( July 14, 2023) – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) reported a tragic multi-vehicle accident in Odessa on Wednesday, 12th, 2023.
The collision occurred at approximately 4 p.m. on U.S. 385 and FM 1787.
According to officials, a grey Mitsubishi Outlander was travelling on the highway when it ran a red light, resulting in a collision with a Nissan Frontier.
Tragically, two occupants of the Nissan sustained fatal injuries in the crash and were pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have identified the victims as an adult and a 9-year-old child.
Following the crash, the driver of the Mitsubishi, identified as 43-year-old Gerad Sandate, fled the scene.
However, he was later located and arrested.
Sandate is facing charges of two counts of intoxicated manslaughter and leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death.
