Oldham County, KY (September 18, 2023) – A child died in a crash after a suspect evaded a traffic stop on southbound Interstate 71 around 3:30 p.m. Saturday, September 16, 2023.

Kentucky State Police report the driver fled at high speeds, then exited at Exit 14, leading to Crestwood and Peewee Valley.

Upon exiting, the vehicle collided with an SUV heading north on Kentucky Highway 329.

Jake Luxemburger, a Kenwood Station Elementary fifth grader, was in the SUV and died from his injuries.

The SUV driver was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The school’s principal described Jake as a cheerful and kind student.

The investigation is still ongoing.
