Why Rollover Crashes Can Result in Severe Outcomes
Rollover crashes often lead to serious consequences because vehicles can experience multiple points of impact as they overturn. The motion of a rollover can increase the likelihood of driver injury, especially when a vehicle rotates onto its roof or side.
High-speed collisions, sudden steering input, and roadway conditions can all contribute to a vehicle overturning. When two vehicles are involved, the force of the initial impact may also play a role in how the crash develops.
After rollover crashes, investigators typically review vehicle damage patterns, roadway marks, and electronic data if available. These details can help clarify how the collision began and why the vehicle ended up overturned.
