Oneida County, WI – Fatal Semi-Truck Collision at County Rd K & US Hwy 51

Oneida County, WI (November 20, 2023) – A tragic crash involving a semi-truck claimed the life of Robert D. Canfield, 76, from Sun Prairie. The collision occurred on Sunday, November 19, around 10:44 a.m. at County Rd K and US Hwy 51 intersection. The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office reported that Canfield, driving a 2018 Cadillac X5, was turning east onto County Rd K when a 2022 Mack semi-truck struck his vehicle.

Despite lifesaving efforts, Canfield was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi-truck driver was unharmed.

The Wisconsin State Patrol is conducting an accident reconstruction. Several emergency services, including the Oneida County HAZMAT Team, ambulance service, and local police departments, assisted the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.

This fatal incident led to a temporary detour on US Hwy 51 for about five hours. Further investigation into the crash is ongoing.
