Oregon, MO (December 2, 2024) – A tragic fatal accident occurred on Missouri State Route 142, approximately seven miles northwest of Myrtle, at 12:28 AM on December 1, 2024. Emergency responders from Oregon County Fire and Rescue were dispatched promptly to the scene, where they provided assistance to the driver and passenger involved in the crash. The crash involved a 2013 RAM Pickup traveling westbound when it ran off the roadway and overturned, partially ejecting the passenger. Despite efforts from emergency responders, the 25-year-old passenger, from Mammoth Springs, AR, was pronounced dead at the scene by Oregon County Coroner Tom Clary at 1:45 AM. The 54-year-old driver from Thayer, MO, suffered serious injuries and was transported to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains, MO. The next of kin for the passenger has been notified.
