Orient, NY (November 13, 2022) – A man died on Wednesday, November 9th after he fell 13 feet off the roof of a residential construction site in Orient.
According to Southold Town police, officers and a unit from the Orient Fire Department were dispatched to the scene on Orchard Street at about 9:00 a.m. Upon their arrival, they located 39-year-old Salomon Cruz-Jimenez, a resident of Shirley, unconscious, in respiratory arrest, and without a pulse.
Responders began performing CPR as they transported Cruz-Jimenez to Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport. He was pronounced dead on arrival.
The fall has been classified as an accident. The incident has been turned over to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration for investigation.
