Osceola County, FL – Fatal Crash and Injuries in Illegal Passing on OBT at Sundown Dr

Osceola County, FL (November 21, 2023) – A disastrous illegal passing attempt on South Orange Blossom Trail (OBT) at Sundown Dr resulted in one fatality and four serious injuries on Sunday, November 19. The Florida Highway Patrol reported the incident involving two vehicles occurred just after 10 p.m.

A 26-year-old Lakeland man, driving a 2019 Chrysler Sebring, illegally tried to overtake another car. He veered into the southbound lane, directly into the path of a Toyota Corolla driven by a 30-year-old Kissimmee man. The Sebring lost control, colliding nearly head-on with the Corolla before spinning off the road.

The Corolla stopped on the southbound shoulder. Both drivers and two Sebring passengers were hospitalized with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. A third Sebring passenger, a 26-year-old Lakeland woman, was declared deceased at the scene.

Authorities are actively investigating the crash.
