Otay Mesa, CA (September 13, 2023) – Enrique Valerio Lopez, 58, died in a DUI collision on Sunday, September 10, 2023.
The tragic incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. on Interstate 805 near State Route 905, as reported by the California Highway Patrol.
Lopez, in his Honda SUV, was rear-ended by a Volkswagen coupe.
The force sent the Honda off the road while the Volkswagen struck the center divider.
Lopez, from Tijuana, was pronounced dead at the scene by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The 21-year-old Volkswagen driver from Escondido was hospitalized with injuries.
Authorities suspect intoxication in the crash.
The investigation is still ongoing.
