Palmetto, FL (September 18, 2023) – A train collided with an SUV, seriously injuring its 32-year-old Palmetto female driver on Saturday 16, 2023.

The incident unfolded at 1:35 p.m. at the railroad crossing at Bayshore Road and 25th Street East.

The woman, ignoring a yield sign, drove directly into the path of a southbound train.

Her SUV’s left side took the impact of the train’s front.

Officials transported the injured woman to a nearby hospital.

The train’s driver, a 41-year-old from Tampa, remained unharmed.

The investigation is still ongoing.
