Las Vegas Intersection Accidents
The Federal Highway Administration (FHA) monitors and records the number of collisions reported across the United States each year. There are more than 2.5 million intersection crashes reported each year on average. These accidents account for around 40% of reported collisions annually. This makes intersection crashes the second-most reported type of collision in the country behind rear-end crashes.
50% of serious crashes resulting in injuries each year take place at intersections, and nearly a quarter of deadly crashes recorded annually occur at intersections. An estimated 165,000 of these crashes are caused by red-light runners. Red-light collisions are responsible for 700 to 800 deaths each year. When a driver fails to yield and crossed through an intersection, they are risking causing a serious crash resulting in catastrophic injuries, and this is a common cause of intersection collisions.
