Paradise, NV (August 5, 2020) – Two teenage girls were fatally struck in the Paradise area on Monday night, August 3. The crash took place at the intersection of E. Katie Avenue and S. Maryland Parkway, near the Boulevard Mall. The two pedestrians were reportedly crossing at the intersection when they were hit by an oncoming vehicle at around 7 p.m.
One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics. The other injured party was transported to Sunrise Hospital where she was later pronounced dead. The deceased victims were identified as two 16-year-old girls from the Las Vegas area.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 38-year-old Ebone Whitaker. She sustained serious injuries and was also hospitalized. According to reports from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Whitaker was charged with driving under the influence resulting in death. No further updates on the crash have been provided at this time.
An ongoing investigation into the incident is currently in progress.
