Pecos, NM (May 9, 2023) – Following a two-vehicle collision in the Pecos area on Saturday, May 6, one man was killed and another was hurt.
At around 12:30 a.m., the fatal crash happened on NM-50. Local reports indicated that a 2016 Dodge Ram pickup driven by 26-year-old Gabe Romero was traveling west when he veered into the shoulder. Romero reentered the road and overcorrected when he hit an eastbound car.
Romero was pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical personnel. The second driver was sent to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Their condition has not been updated at this time.
The crash may have been caused by alcohol. There is no more information available at this time.
The cause of the crash is the subject of an ongoing investigation.
