Peekskill, NY – Shina McClam Killed in Crash Near Main St

Peekskill, NY (December 26, 2020) – On Wednesday, December 23rd at about 9:10 p.m., local law enforcement officers in Westchester were called to the scene of a wrong-way collision on US Highway 9 near Main Street in the city of Peekskill.

A preliminary investigation showed that a 2018 Audi Q7 driven by 41-year-old Mark E. Cope, a resident of Yorktown, was driving north in the southbound lanes of the highway when he collided with an oncoming 2020 Acura MDX carrying a driver and two passengers. 

Cope was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was charged with vehicular manslaughter in the 1st degree.

The driver of the Acura, 32-year-old Shina M. McClam, a resident of Ossining, was pronounced deceased on the scene.  

Two of the passengers, her 6-year-old and 18-year-old daughters, both sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The older girl was transported via ambulance to Westchester Medical Center. The youngest was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center for emergency medical treatment.
