Phelps, MO (November 21, 2023) – A fatal rollover accident occurred on westbound I-44 at the 187 mile marker in Rolla, in the early hours of Tuesday, November 21. Kasey M. Cloud, a 27-year-old from Decatur, IL, driving a 2004 GMC Sierra, lost control, hit a concrete barrier, then an embankment, and overturned multiple times. Cloud, who was not wearing a safety device, was partially ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene.
Two juveniles in the vehicle, aged 1 and 3, suffered injuries and were taken to Phelps Health Hospital in Rolla. Ricky L. Dunn, a 30-year-old occupant, sustained serious injuries and was also transported to Phelps Health Hospital.
TPR J.R. Chronister and MSGT P.W. Meyers of the Major Crash Investigation Unit, assisted by CPL J.E. Bellers and the Rolla Police Department, are conducting an ongoing investigation into this tragic incident, which marks Troop I’s 4th fatality of November and 30th for the year.
