Phoenix, AZ (April 21, 2025) – A tragic crash in south Phoenix on Saturday afternoon left a teenage male dead and two other individuals critically injured. The Phoenix Fire Department confirmed the incident occurred near the intersection of 35th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road, a major roadway corridor in the city’s southwest region.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene following reports of a serious collision involving multiple people. Three individuals were transported to nearby hospitals, including a teenage male who later succumbed to his injuries. His identity has not yet been publicly released.

According to authorities, a man and a woman also sustained critical injuries and were taken to the hospital for emergency treatment. The current condition of the surviving victims remains unknown, and the exact circumstances surrounding the crash have not been disclosed.

The intersection was shut down temporarily as police and fire crews managed the scene and initiated an investigation into the cause of the collision. Phoenix police are expected to review potential contributing factors, including speed, driver behavior, or mechanical failure.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends mourning the loss of the teen, and we hold hope for a full recovery for the injured man and woman. We also commend the Phoenix Fire Department and first responders for their swift and professional response.

Teen Fatalities and Critical Injury Crashes in Phoenix

Major intersections like 35th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road are often the sites of high-impact collisions due to traffic volume, varying speeds, and complex traffic patterns. In densely populated urban areas such as Phoenix, the risk of serious crashes is elevated during busy afternoon hours when visibility, fatigue, or distraction may factor in.

This devastating incident, which claimed the life of a young person and left two others in critical condition, highlights the life-altering impact of severe urban collisions. Teenage drivers and passengers are statistically more vulnerable in crashes, often due to inexperience, distraction, or failure to use restraints. Even with safety measures in place, the force of high-speed impacts can have fatal consequences.

For families affected by such tragedies, the aftermath is emotionally and financially overwhelming. From grief and trauma to hospital bills and investigations, the process can be daunting. Accessing appropriate legal support, mental health services, and community resources is essential in the days and weeks following the incident.
