Plant City, FL (September 18, 2023) – A bicyclist, identified as 60-year-old Robert Scott Cook, was killed in a hit-and-run on Friday, September 15, 2023, around 6:35 p.m.
Authorities reported the incident on Jim Johnson Road near Jap Tucker Road.
Cook was cycling west when a gray Ford F-150 pickup, driven by a middle-aged Hispanic man, hit him from behind.
The truck, showing front passenger side damage and missing part of its grille, fled the scene.
Witnesses believe the same truck hit a pole near Fire Rescue Station 25 on East Trapnell Road.
Plant City Fire Rescue tried assisting Cook, but he died on site.
The investigation is still ongoing.
