Pleasant Grove, AL (Monday, September 18, 2023) – A tragic head-on collision in western Jefferson County over the weekend resulted in the loss of a Pleasant Grove resident’s life.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 46-year-old Roger Keith Preston.

The incident occurred around 10:45 a.m. on Saturday on Taylor’s Ferry Road near Cross Creek Way.

According to Sheriff’s Lt. Joni Money, a Chevrolet TrailBlazer and a GMC Sierra collided in the eastbound lane of Taylor’s Ferry Road.

Roger Keith Preston was behind the wheel of the Trail Blazer and was pronounced deceased at the scene at 11:15 a.m.

The adult female driver of the Sierra was transported to UAB Hospital.

The extent of her injuries remains undisclosed.

The investigation is still ongoing.
