Wrong-Way Crashes in California
Wrong-way collisions remain among the deadliest types of accidents on California’s highways. In cases like this heartbreaking crash on the 60 Freeway in Pomona, the outcome is often catastrophic due to the high-speed, head-on impact and the limited time for either driver to react.
Most wrong-way crashes occur during overnight hours and are often linked to impaired driving, fatigue, or confusion—especially in areas with poorly marked exits and interchanges. Freeways like SR-60, which serve as major east-west routes through the Inland Empire and Los Angeles County, are particularly vulnerable due to high traffic volumes and fast-moving lanes.
According to state data, wrong-way collisions in California result in dozens of fatalities each year, and many more suffer life-altering injuries. These crashes can have devastating consequences not only for the victims but also for their families, who are often left with sudden loss, unanswered questions, and significant financial burdens.
For families affected by fatal collisions, having access to compassionate support and legal guidance is essential. From arranging services to exploring wrongful death claims, the right resources can help ease some of the pain and provide a path forward.
