Poplar Bluff, MO (October 2, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred at the intersection of MO 53 and MO 142 on October 1, 2024, at approximately 9:15 p.m. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene following reports of a serious collision involving two vehicles.
Preliminary reports indicate that the crash involved a 1987 Chrysler 5th Avenue and a 2022 Kia Carnival. The Chrysler, driven by 38-year-old Shanea L. Brown from Poplar Bluff, was traveling westbound when it entered the intersection and struck the side of the southbound Kia Carnival, driven by 32-year-old Heather L. Massie, also from Poplar Bluff. Both vehicles sustained total damage and were subsequently towed from the scene.
Shanea Brown suffered fatal injuries and was transported by Butler County EMS to Poplar Bluff Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased by Dr. Raymond Ketting at 10:11 p.m. Heather Massie sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center for treatment.
