Virginia Traffic Crashes
Unfortunately, Virginia drivers are known to be some of the more accident-prone drivers in the United States. According to recent statistics, approximately one in every four Virginia drivers will be involved in a car crash in their lifetime. There is one crash every three minutes in Virginia, and approximately 178 people are injured per day due to Virginia traffic collisions. In 2015, there were two fatal traffic accidents per day in Virginia. According to data from the Federal Highway Administration, Virginia is ranked among the top ten states for the worst drivers in the nation.
Large truck crashes take place in Virginia approximately 50 times per year. In 2017, there were 45 large truck crashes that occurred in the Old Dominion. Of those accidents, only 12 truck drivers lost their lives. This proves that most of the time, in traffic accidents involving large trucks, the occupants of the smaller vehicle will sustain injuries vs the truck driver.
