Queens, NY (May 20, 2023) – A motor vehicle accident reported at the John F. Kennedy Airport on Friday morning, May 19, sent more than a dozen people to an area hospital with injuries.
At around 5:20 a.m., the New York Police Department was dispatched to the scene of an automobile collision on Van Wyck Expressway.
Reports from authorities show that a Delta Airlines bus and a second vehicle, which was contracted by American Airlines, collided on Van Wyck Expressway while exiting the airport to head toward the Belt Parkway.
The incident blocked multiple lanes of the road for several hours.
A total of 15 people were injured as a result of the accident. The victims were transported to area hospitals for emergency care. At least one victim was in serious condition.
At this time, the incident is being investigated.
