Queens, NY (May 8, 2023) – One person sustained injuries in a fire that broke out on the top floor of a residential building on 1st Street in Astoria, Queens on May 8th. According to reports from firefighters, the fire may have started in a vacant apartment on the seventh floor.
The incident was first reported at 2:41 p.m. when firefighters received a call about a fire on the top floor of a residential building at the intersection of 1st Street and 27th Avenue. Footage from the scene shows black smoke billowing out from the windows of the corner apartment, and officers were called in to assist.
One person suffered injuries as a result of the fire and was treated by emergency responders on the scene.
It’s not clear at this time if they were hospitalized, or how severe their injuries were, but we hope they make a speedy recovery.
