Queens, NY (May 25, 2023) – A house fire reported in the Astoria section of Queens sent a 70-year-old person to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.
According to authorities, just before 1:00 a.m. on May 25, a major fire broke out at a home located on 24th Street.
Firefighters rushed to the scene and located flames pouring out of the structure, which was located near the intersection of 23rd Avenue.
A 70-year-old victim was pulled from the home, suffering from critical injuries. The victim was rushed to an area hospital for emergency medical care.
Five firefighters also suffered injuries while battling the blaze. They were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
At this time, the incident is being investigated.
