Redding, CA (September 13, 2023) – Joseph Charles Landreth, 54, died in a pedestrian crash on Friday, September 8, 2023.

Around 6:15 a.m., on State Route 273, a 25-year-old from Anderson drove a Toyota 4-Runner northbound.

He noticed Landreth, clad in dark attire, in the left-hand turn lane.

Despite braking efforts, the SUV struck Landreth.

Emergency responders took Landreth to Mercy Hospital.

Unfortunately, he succumbed to his severe injuries.

The Redding Police Department is investigating the cause.

The investigation is still ongoing.
