Refugio County, TX ( July 17, 2023) – A crash in Refugio County on July 16th, 2023, resulted in the tragic loss of three lives, including that of an 8-month-old baby.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), two vehicles collision occurred at 5 a.m.
Both trucks were travelling south on U.S. 77.
A GMC truck rear-ended a Chevy truck, forcing it into a median, causing it to overturn and catch fire.
Tragically, two occupants of the Chevy truck were ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the truck also lost their life in the ensuing fire.
The deceased individuals were 39-year-old Jose Rivas from Houston, 37-year-old Christina Gonzalez from Humble, and her 8-month-old baby boy.
Authorities are currently investigating the exact cause of the crash, and further details are forthcoming.
