Richmond, VA (April 4, 2023) – A fire broke out inside the basement of the Mutual Building on Monday, leaving three people injured.
According to reports provided by the city spokesperson, Petula Burks, a four-alarm electrical fire began in the basement of the Mutual apartment building, located in the 900 block of East Main Street.
The incident prompted the entire building to be evacuated as emergency crews battled the blaze.
Three construction workers were injured as a result of the fire. The victims were rendered aid at the scene by responding medical personnel. One person was then rushed to a local hospital for further care.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
