Riverhead, NY – Head-On Rollover Crash on County Route 58; Two Injured

Riverhead, NY (July 27, 2023) – Riverhead Town police reported two injuries from a head-on rollover crash on July 25, 2023.

The incident occurred outside the Gulf gas station on County Route 58 at 2:35 p.m.

Police said one vehicle overturned after the collision.

Riverhead detectives and the NYSP accident reconstruction team investigated the scene.

A 57-year-old man was driving a 2008 Honda Accord west on CR 58.

The man unexpectedly veered into the turning lane, colliding with a 38-year-old woman’s eastbound 2010 Toyota Highlander.

Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps rushed the man to Peconic Bay Medical Center due to his severe injuries.

The same hospital received the woman with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigations into the crash’s cause continue.
