Riverhead, NY (July 5, 2023) – An 84-year-old woman lost her life as a result of an automobile accident that took place on Tuesday, July 4, in Riverhead.
At around 1:00 p.m., the Riverhead Town Police Department responded to the scene of an automobile accident that took place on the Long Island Expressway exit ramp.
According to reports, a collision took place on the roadway in the area of Route 58. As a result of the collision, one of the involved vehicles rolled over multiple times.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as 45-year-old Jhon M. Pulla Idrovo, suffered injuries in the crash. The victim was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps for emergency care. Two other victims were injured in the accident and transported to the same hospital for further care.
1/3 passenger, identified as 84-year-old Maria B Tixi Tixi, was severely hurt. She was airlifted and flown to Stony Brook University Hospital for emergency treatment. The police confirmed that she passed away after arriving.
Pulla Idrovo was subsequently arrested for the accident and charged with driving without an interlock device.
The Riverhead Town Police Department is investigating the crash with the assistance of the New York State Police Department.
