Riverside, IA (September 13, 2023) – A UTV rear-ended a Ford Ranger on Highway 22 near the 218 northwest ramp on Sunday evening.

The Iowa State Patrol revealed that Mary and Terry Stumpf were in the UTV.

They were transported to the University of Iowa Hospital, with Terry airlifted.

Neither of them wore seat belts.

The 14-year-old Ranger driver from Riverside remained unharmed.

Post-crash, several drivers ignored a temporary road closure.

As a result, citations will be issued.

Washington County Chief Deputy Shawn Ellingson emphasized the importance of obeying road closures.

He advised drivers to approach accident scenes cautiously and heed directions from emergency personnel.

The investigation is still ongoing.
