Rochester, NY – Ambulance Patient Injured During Crash at Jay St and Broad St

Rochester, NY (April 04, 2021) – Officers from the Rochester City Police Department were called to the scene when a car collided with an occupied ambulance and then fled the scene on Sunday, April 4th.  

The crash took place at the intersection of Broad Street and Jay Street at about 2:30 a.m. The ambulance overturned on its side and skidded for around 30 yards before it came to a stop.

The patient being transported at the time of the accident was moved onto another ambulance that was dispatched to the scene. The degree of her injuries is not known, but firefighters on the scene stated that she was conscious following the impact.

Two of the paramedics on board the ambulance also sustained injuries and were transported via a third ambulance to a local hospital in unknown condition.  

The driver of the car that collided with the ambulance fled down Jay Street. Once the vehicle broke down he continued to escape on foot.
