Rochester, NY – Man Killed in Two-Alarm Fire on McKee Rd

Rochester, NY (June 22, 2020) – Authorities have now reported on the cause of a fire that broke out in the city of Rochester that left one person deceased on Friday, June 19th. The fatal incident was reported inside of an industrial building located on McKee Road, just shortly after 12:00 p.m.

According to the Rochester Fire Department, crews were dispatched to the scene where they worked to extinguish the blaze. After the fire was out, crews reentered the building and located a deceased man.

The Rochester Fire Investigation Unit’s Task Force later found that the fire was started by a torch cutting operation that ultimately ignited vapors, which ignited a flammable liquid. One firefighter was suffered non-life-threatening injuries while battling the flames but no further details were reported.

The identity of the deceased victim has not been released.
