Rochester, NY (March 6, 2023) – A tragic incident at the Main Street Armory in Rochester was reported during a concert that was being held on Sunday evening, March 5th.
According to authorities, a crowd that had gathered to watch rappers GloRilla and Finesse2tymes perform at the venue surged toward the exits after numerous concertgoers believed to have heard gunshots. During the Stampede toward the exits, one person was killed, and a total of nine others suffered a range of injuries.
Emergency crews were called to the scene, where EMS attempted life-saving measures on at least three seriously injured female victims. One of the women was pronounced deceased due to her injuries.
Multiple other injured victims were transported to nearby hospitals by private vehicles. All of their injuries appear to be non-life-threatening in nature.
Mayor of the city of Rochester, Malik Evans, described the fatal incident as a serious “tragedy of epic proportions.” Mayor Evans has vowed to bring accountability for the incident.
While the investigation is ongoing, law enforcement officials stated that they are looking into multiple possible contributing factors, including code violations, the number of attendees, and liquor license issues. Updates will be provided once they are available.
