Rockingham County, VA – Two Hurt in Two-Vehicle Wreck on I-81 near MM 262

Rockingham County, VA (July 6, 2023) – Two people were injured as a result of an automobile accident that occurred in Rockingham County.

At around 7:35 p.m. on July 4, a collision between a Virginia State Police trooper and a 2011 Honda Pilot occurred on the southbound lanes of Interstate 81. Both vehicles overturned as a result of the crash. The incident prompted emergency officials to respond to the scene and shut down an area of the roadway near mile marker 262.

Two people, including the state trooper, suffered injuries in the accident. The victims were transported to local hospitals for further care.

At this time, investigations into the crash are underway.
