ATV Accidents in Ronkonkoma

2.27 Ronkonkoma, NY - Brandon Niles Killed in Quad Bike Accident on Lakeland Ave

ATVs, such as dune buggies and quad bikes, have a grim fatal accident rate in New York alone. From 2007 to 2010, 314 people have been killed during ATV accidents.

ATVs are serious motor vehicles that are able to reach highway speeds and weigh up to a quarter ton. Nationwide, about 300 people die on ATVs each year. Most of these fatalities are caused by injuries to the head and spinal cord. The high rate of accidents is partially attributed to the fact that many younger people use these vehicles with no training or understanding of how to safely operate them. In addition to this, newer ATVs are faster and heavier than their older counterparts as manufacturers compete to push the boundaries of speed, power, and weight.
