Saint Peter, MN (November 28, 2023) – A multi-vehicle accident on southbound HWY 169 at milepost 65 in Nicollet County resulted in one fatality and several injuries on Monday, November 27, at 5:26 p.m. The crash involved a Toyota Prius, a Hyundai Sonata, a Toyota RAV4, and a Chevy Equinox. The Prius, turning onto South Washington Ave, collided with the Sonata. Judith Morey Gardner, 86, driving the Prius, suffered life-threatening injuries.
Her passenger, Robert Merritt Gardner, 79, was fatally injured. Daniel Richard Kelley, 38, in the Sonata, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The RAV4, driven by Shawna Teralynn McDonald, 45, and the Equinox, driven by Dylan Hunter Novak, 20, were involved in a subsequent rear-end collision. Authorities are actively investigating the cause of this tragic event.
