San Antonio, TX ( July 19, 2023) – A heartbreaking incident unfolded on Tuesday, July 18th, 2023, resulting in the death of a good Samaritan who was struck by a truck while standing on the side of the highway, attempting to assist in directing traffic.
The incident occurred on I-10, east of San Antonio, just before 2 p.m., near the on-ramp at Liberty Road.
According to police, a wrecker had stopped on the right shoulder to pick up a load, and a 56-year-old man had positioned himself to guide traffic.
Tragically, the pickup truck driver failed to see the man and collided with him, subsequently crashing into the wall.
The victim was immediately transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
As of now, his identity has not been disclosed.
The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene following the incident.
Police stated they were uncertain if the driver was using his phone, but he was not paying attention to the road.
