San Diego, CA – DUI Motorcycle Accident on I-5 near Genesee Ave; Severe Injuries Reported

San Diego, CA (July 7, 2023) – An alcohol-impaired driver caused serious injuries in a La Jolla neighborhood accident on Thursday, July 6, 2023.

The California Highway Patrol reported the collision near Genesee Avenue on southbound Interstate 5 at 9:21 p.m.

It is not clear what caused the collision between the motorcycle and the car.

The first responders discovered the motorcyclist on the right-hand shoulder was conscious and breathing when they arrived on the scene.

According to the report, at least one person was transported to the hospital to treat serious injuries.

The CHP reported that a drunk driver caused the accident but provided no additional information.

During the time that the investigation was ongoing, several traffic lanes were kept blocked.
