San Diego, CA (September 18, 2023) – A fatal collision occurred at 8:43 p.m. on I5 S/Sr163 on Sunday, September 17, 2023.
Initial reports by CHP San Diego area stated a white Nissan Altima, with airbags deployed, remained in lane three, suspecting it hit a pedestrian.
The pedestrian lay in the first lane.
Emergency services were alerted at 8:44 p.m.
A hit-and-run was suspected due to the vehicle’s damage.
By 8:49 p.m., officers were on site and lanes began to close.
Fire trucks and a tow truck responded, with road closures and a sig alert issued.
Cleanup and investigation kept the scene active past 10:00 p.m.
The investigation is still ongoing.
