San Diego, CA – Head-On Collision on Interstate 805 Near Mexican Border Entry: Fatality Confirmed

San Diego, CA (July 28 , 2023) – A fatal car accident occurred on Interstate 805 near the San Ysidro Southbound Inspection on the Mexican border in San Diego County on Wednesday, July 26, 2023.

CBS8 and the California Highway Patrol reported the collision at 11:54 a.m.

A 29-year-old man driving a white Audi sedan tried to enter Mexico through the San Ysidro Southbound Inspection.

The driver turned north in the southbound freeway lanes and hit a black Honda van.

An unidentified Honda driver died.

San Diego Fire Department and paramedics assisted the injured.

The Audi sedan driver was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The fatal Interstate 805 crash is under investigation.
