San Diego, CA (July 15, 2023) – A man suffered critical injuries in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash in San Diego’s University City neighbourhood on Friday, July 14, 2023.
The incident occurred around 1:24 a.m. in the 8500 block of Genesee Avenue.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the male pedestrian was crossing the roadway illegally from the east curb to the west curb when he was struck by a southbound driver in a red Kia.
The driver fled the scene, leaving the victim in a dire situation.
Emergency services arrived promptly and transported the injured pedestrian to a local hospital by ambulance.
As of now, there have been no updates on his condition.
The San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division is actively investigating the incident.
It continues the search for the hit-and-run driver, who abandoned the Kia a short distance from the crash site.
