San Diego, CA – Wrong-Way Crash on Interstate 805 near San Ysidro Port of Entry Results in Fatality

San Diego, CA (July 26, 2023) – A car trying to enter Mexico through the San Ysidro Port of Entry made a U-turn on Interstate 805’s southbound lanes on Wednesday, July 26, 2023.

The California Highway Patrol was notified of a two-car collision around 11:54 a.m. near the Camino De La Plaza off-ramp.

According to a witness, a white car initially tried to enter Mexico but changed direction and collided with another vehicle.

The crash resulted in the death of the unidentified Hispanic man driving a blue Honda van.

Meanwhile, the 29-year-old driver of the white Audi sedan from San Diego suffered major non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
