December 14, 2024

San Jose, CA (December 14, 2024) – A three-vehicle collision with injuries occurred early Saturday morning on northbound I-680 at the McKee Rd offramp in San Jose. The incident caused significant traffic disruptions as multiple vehicles, including a white Toyota Camry and a silver Toyota SUV, were involved.

Emergency responders, including paramedics and fire crews from San Jose Fire Department (SJFD), quickly arrived at the scene to assist those involved. Two parties were reported to be out of their vehicles, while one individual remained inside a vehicle. The extent of their injuries is not fully clear, but they were treated at the scene and transported to nearby medical facilities for further care.

The crash caused significant traffic delays, with the #1 lane blocked for a period. Tow services from several companies, including Sunnyvale Tow and F and M Towing, were requested to remove the damaged vehicles from the scene. All lanes were cleared and reopened by 8:18 AM.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Our thoughts are with those affected by this accident, and we wish the injured individuals a full and speedy recovery.

Traffic Collisions in California

Highways such as I-680 are vital for commuters but are also prone to accidents due to heavy traffic, high speeds, and complex interchanges. Multi-vehicle collisions, like this one near McKee Rd, often occur when drivers fail to maintain safe distances, drive distracted, or make unsafe lane changes.

Drivers are reminded to maintain vigilance, drive defensively, and adhere to traffic laws to help prevent accidents. In high-traffic areas like this, maintaining a safe following distance and avoiding distractions are essential for reducing the risk of collisions.

If you are involved in a vehicle collision, it is critical to contact emergency services, document the scene, and seek medical attention. Legal or insurance professionals can assist in resolving claims and ensuring fair treatment.
