Santa Ana, CA (July 24, 2023) – A tragic cement truck collision occurred in Santa Ana on Saturday morning, July 22, 2023.

The incident occurred shortly after 8 a.m. near State Route 55 (Costa Mesa Freeway) in the 2400 block of E. 17th Street.

According to the Santa Ana Police Department, a sedan exiting the freeway at high speed onto E. 17th Street collided with a stationary cement truck in the left turn lane.

The male driver of the sedan was killed in the collision, while his female passenger suffered critical injuries and was rushed to the hospital.

The cement truck driver remained uninjured and cooperated with authorities.

An investigation into the cause of the collision is underway.
