Trucking accidents in Virginia can take place for a multitude of reasons, including driver error, equipment failure, and distracted driving. In 2017, there were 45 large truck crashes that turned fatal in Virginia. Of those accidents, only 12 truck drivers lost their lives. This points to the fact that when a smaller vehicle is involved in a motor vehicle accident with a larger truck like an 18-wheeler, the occupants of the smaller vehicle are almost always the ones who sustain severe injuries.
