Sentinel Butte, ND (August 18, 2020) – An accident took place on Tuesday evening when a tractor-trailer rolled over in Golden Valley County, 13 miles northeast of Sentinel Butte. The accident caused one victim fatality with another victim being transported via ambulance to a trauma center in Dickinson.
As stated by troopers from the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the as of yet unidentified 52-year-old male who was a resident of McAllen, Texas, was operating the 2007 tanker truck that was transporting saltwater in the northbound lanes of Wannagan Creek Road, in the vicinity Knutson Creek.
For reasons that have yet to be determined, the tanker veered off of the roadway and went into a ditch on the east side of the road where it then flipped over.
First response teams from the Billings County Sheriff’s Office, the Golden Valley County Sheriff’s Office, Beach EMS Fire and Rescue, and Billings County EMS all reported to the scene of the accident.
On their arrival, they discovered a passenger in the tractor-trailer, a 57-year-old resident of West Jordan, Utah, also currently unidentified. The passenger was transported via ambulance to CHI St Alexius’ Hospital in Dickinson.
Attending emergency medical personnel pronounced the driver of the truck deceased at the scene.
Troopers from the North Dakota Highway Patrol are currently working to understand the cause of this accident.
